How much do you charge for wedding ceremonies?
Melissa's rates depend on several factors including the performance length, travel time, specific dates, and type of events (outdoor & etc). Please contact Melissa for specific rates based on your desires.

What is your minimum?
I not do charge a minimum rate for wedding ceremonies.   All ceremony music is included in my basic fee.   For cocktail hours and receptions there is a one hour minimum. 

How do I reserve my specific date & time for my wedding ceremony?
I will reserve your wedding's date & time with a signed performance agreement and a $50.00 non-refundable deposit.   Forms of payment include credit card, check, cash or money order.

How far in advance can I book a wedding or special event?
You can book as far in advance as possible.  One year in advance is a good bet for weddings since most occur on Saturdays. Other special events - not held on Saturdays - is not has important.  However, if you know your specific wedding's date & time, book as soon as possible to be certain that I am available.   

Are certain times of the year harder to reserve?
YES, certain times of the year you should book in advance like March, April, May, & June.

Do you do last minute weddings and special events?
Yes, I do last minute bookings for both weddings and other special events. 

Will a church allow me to have a harpist?
One of the first steps in planning your wedding music choice is to research your church's policy for wedding music. Many churches have a set policy for wedding music and it is important to find out what is considered acceptable to avoid future problems that would arise.

Which wedding consultants do you work with?
Melissa works with all wedding consultants the bride and groom chooses. If you have a wedding consultants, let Melissa know so she can coordination music selection. If you don't have a wedding consultant, see next question.

Will you assist me in choosing appropriate harp music for my event?
Yes. if you don't know the exact title of the harp piece's), Melissa can help you select them if you provide an idea of the melody. Also , please review the repertoire page for possible music selections.

Will the client need to provide Melissa with a chair, music stand, other items?
NO, Melissa will provide everything needed. The only exception will be a Public Address system if needed for large or outdoor events.

How far in advance should I reserve my event?
As far as possible. Certain times of the year are busy than others; for weddings the spring is general busier than normal; other events falling during the holiday season are very busy. Example includes Christmas, Valentines, Mother's Day.

What musical styles can Melissa perform on her harp?
Most types of music can be played on the harp including classical, traditional, religious, soft pop, popular, light jazz, and etc. Please review the repertoire page for a sample of musical styles. Not all music will sound good on the harp. Please ask Melissa if your choice of music is appropriate for the harp.

Can the harp be used after the ceremony?
The harp is perfect for a cocktail hour, or if you want something more intimate for dinner music.  

CAN MELISSA PERFORM AT OUTDOOR EVENTS?
YES, With Exceptions. See Outdoor Events Page. Poor weather conditions will severely damage the harp, therefore the harp cannot be played during these times.

Can the harp be amplified if it is needed?
If performing outdoors or an exceptionally large space, Melissa can be amplified either with her own harp's  portable amplifier or she can plugged into most any existing PA system.

HOW MUCH ROOM IS REQUIRED TO PLAY?
Melissa requires approximately a 4' x 4' space for the harp, bench, and music stand. This space must be flat and solid.

IS THE HARP LOUD ENOUGH FOR MY EVENT?
Melissa's harp is an extremely resonant instrument and will be heard even in large areas. However, Melissa's harp is capable of amplification by her personal portable amplifier. Also, the harp can connect to a public address system if needed.
